In this video I talk about the conventions of a thriller film that I challenge.
Summary of what I say in the video:
I do not challenge character conventions, as i use girls to be murdered which is quite a generic idea for murder films. The girls i used are around the age of 16 and 17, so again, the age that thriller movies usually use. such as;
knock knock
In taken - his daughter
Girl on the train.
I represent different social groups by using different girls with different hobbies, such as one of the girls likes to walk their dogs, where one of the girls likes to swim.
I tackle the issue of rape without explicitly showing someone being raped. I used women as before i filmed i found out about the terrible statics of that 1 in 6 women are raped or attempted to be raped. 90% of rape of victims are also women, which is why i use all girl characters in my thriller opening.
Here is my video, with a voice over explaining how I challenge conventions and represent social groups and issues in my thriller film:
is a broad genre of literature,film,and television that uses suspense,tension, and excitement as the main elements.Common sub genres are psychological thrillers,crime thrillers and mystery thrillers.After the assassination of President Kennedy,the political thriller film became very popular. A rather more action-packed sub genre of thriller is the spy genre. Successful examples of thrillers are the films of Alfred Hitchcock. Thrillers heavily stimulate the viewer's moods such as a high level of anticipation,ultra-heightened expectation,uncertainty,anxiety, suspense,excitement,tension, and terror. Thrillers films tend to be adrenaline-rushing, gritty,rousing and fast-paced. The cover-up of important information from the viewer, and fight and chase scenes are common methods in all of the thriller sub genres, although each sub genre has its own characteristics and methods. "Homer's Odyssey” is one of the oldest stories in the Western world and is regarded as an early prototype of the thriller.
